THE HUNT

The Hunt is a smaller series I made as a reaction to my work Hubertus. I felt the need to show the harder side of hunting after showcasing how I perceive the practice of hunting. From that need I contacted Mick (not the man seen in these photo’s) once again to see if there was a way to photograph the harder truth of hunting without showing the kill.
These images might be distressing, but it is part of our world. Yes, there are slaughterhouses specifically for game. But let’s not forget the thousands -and let me put emphasis on thousands-, of slaughterhouses that force countless pigs, cows, sheep and more. And that just for the sake of having our daily share of meat on our plate.
These pictures serve as a counterweight to Hubertus, which focussed more on the calm and free spirit of hunting.
